The PurePlay ABC Animals Set is built from solid European beechwood. Dense, warm, and real in a child's hands in a way that plastic and plywood simply aren't. Whether it's a first birthday, a christening, or a Christmas gif, this set is designed to be passed from sibling to sibling, and eventually to the next generation. Tactile, open-ended play that grows with the child. From matching letters to imaginative small-world stories.

Why it matters
Not plywood. Solid beech. Every time.
Most wooden toys online are made from birch plywood or MDF with a veneer. They look the same in photos. They feel completely different in your hands.
Beech is a hardwood. Dense, warm, and naturally antibacterial. It's the same wood used for butcher blocks and surgical instruments. When a child picks up one of these letters, they feel the weight of something real.
Every piece is cut from a single plank. No layers, no glue, no filler. The grain runs all the way through. Sand it, oil it, hand it to the next child in ten years. It will still be beautiful.
We finish each piece by hand with EN71-certified natural oil. No varnish, no lacquer. ?Just wood, oil, and the hours our hands put into making every edge velvet-smooth.
Sustainably sourced in small batches from Transylvania — no plywood, no veneers.

We are Miriam's parents, Patricia and Alexandru. Our careers in filmmaking taught us to care about stories, details, and the things that don't get noticed until they're missing.
Our daughter Miriam was the reason PurePlay was born. We kept finding toys that looked worthy and disappointed in hand - plywood dressed as solid wood, varnish hiding mediocre material.
Every order that leaves our workshop has never been touched by anyone outside of us. We don't outsource anywhere.
